Past
Before I came to this boarding school, my Task Initiation & Completion was . . .
- a little hit & miss. I'm not going to lie
- I was really good at starting new things for a day or two, or a week, like piano
- but then I got tired of doing it, and so I would quit
- and I fought with my parents over finishing stuff
- I finished my volcano science project because I loved it, and it made sense
- but when I went into overwhelm, I was like, shoot. Forget that
- In wilderness, I started finishing hard things. It made me feel g.o.o.d
Present
My Task Initiation & Completion now is . . .
- a little better
- when I'm stressed out, I still quit sometimes
- but I'm better about jumping back in, instead of quitting permanently, you know
- like when I thought cycling was to hard, and so I kept skipping class and going to the nurse instead
- but then I talked to my coach, and he got all pep-talk in my face, and I decided to try again
- and I got my best time ever finishing my last tri. I never thought I could do a tri until then
- It's hard, but it's real
- I'm learning how much I can really handle, and how to advocate for myself, so I don't get overwhelmed
Future
In the future, I want my Task Initiation and Completion to be . . .
- 80% or more
- I'll be good at following through and finishing things because I'll schedule it out
- and I won't commit to stuff that's not realistic for me
- and I'll get the help I need, so I'm not stressed. Like, I'll go to the writing center and math lab in college
- and I'll feel good about working toward my goals
- because I can see that I already have accomplished a lot of important and hard things
- and I just want to build on the coolness I've already formed
